During her formative years, Spokes always believed she wasn’t very bright. She always felt like nothing she ever did was good enough. Her teen years were especially difficult due to growing up in a home with an alcoholic father and a controlling mother.

She got married at an early age as much to escape home as wanting to be with the man she loved.

Her married years, were a continuation of her family years in that her husband was controlling and made her feel inadequate and unattractive. After she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, her husband spent very little time with her. Her husband had found outside sources of entertainment such as alcohol, drugs and another woman. Spokes finally gave up trying to be a good wife and packed up and moved out taking her 5 year old daughter with her.

Thus began the long journey to finding herself. The road to self esteem, self confidence and the realization that she is an intelligent attractive woman has been long and bumpy. There has been the occasional downhill stretch where she was coasting along, but many more long uphill stretches with what seemed like an unattainable summit.

With a little encouragement from a friend, she found the courage…albeit it tenuous….to write. Putting words on paper for the whole world to read is a scary endeavor and yet at the same time very empowering
