One of the HMFIC has asked me to tell the world about myself. Since there's not much to tell, I won't be taking up a lot of the readers time!
I'm from Ontario, Canada. I've lived in the same city pretty much my whole life. It's been 40 years and counting. I think it's fair to say I don't have a lot of gypsy blood in me. I have two fantastically, unbelievably cute children. Zach is 12 and Jessie is 8. Neither one of them seem to be interested in cooking, however.
I guess I've always had an interest in cooking, although I was never surrounded by adventurous cooks. My paternal grandmother came to Canada from The Netherlands and I remember some of the dishes she cooked were wonderful. My maternal grandmother is Canadian and mostly what I remember of her cooking is burning potatoes! LOL But I recall a time or two when I helped her make mustard pickles and they were yummy.
I'm not an artsy-fartsy cook. I think it's more about the taste than the presentation. I enjoy using basic ingredients and subtle flavours to make something good. Home style cooking is more my style. Hearty and filling and "stick to your ribs" fare. While I enjoy experimenting with ingredients and their results, I also know that sometimes you just don't mess with tradition.
If any readers have something they'd like to share or comments they'd like to make, please do. I'm always looking for new ways to do things and new flavours to try.
Thanks for stopping by.
